MOSS Technical Services of Bridgend has won an exclusive contract with Niko UK to become sub-distributors and provide installation training throughout Wales.
With an expected contract value in excess of £450,000 over the next three years, the electrical and security contracting business has also secured a £30,000 loan from Tata subsidiary UK Steel Enterprise and a £9,000 grant from the Welsh Assembly Government to develop enhanced training facilities.
Andy Lee of Graham Paul Chartered Accountants advised on business plan requirements to secure funding.
Niko UK is the recently formed subsidiary of the Belgian home automation and lighting solutions provider.
Manufactured in Sint-Niklaas, Belgium, the range of 6,000 products includes automatic controlled lighting enabling users to reduce costs and carbon footprint, as lights are automatically turned off when not required.
Moss Technical Services will provide courses for installers and electricians in Wales to learn how to design, install and programme Niko automation and lighting systems. The schedule of training will be free to qualified installers and includes on-going technical support.
Andy Moss, managing director of Moss Technical Services, says: "The contract win is great news for our business and comes as we finish our best year to date. Niko's installation solutions are simple-to-install and programme with superb reliability and a comprehensive range of easy-to-use interfaces.
"In fact, they are proving to be increasingly popular as automation control for lighting is becoming a compulsory factor. Thousands of pounds are wasted each year in schools and businesses across the country with unnecessary lights and equipment being left on and Niko can provide the perfect control solution to this problem. Working with Niko, we can now help provide automation solutions and give installers a unique selling point and edge to their business.
"With the help of Graham Paul Chartered Accountants and funding from UK Steel Enterprise, we have developed a training suite that boasts a complete facility for hands-on experience of programming and installing Niko systems."
UK Steel Enterprise provides equity and loan packages to Welsh companies with growth potential, as well as offering high-quality business accommodation in Cardiff and Ebbw Vale.
Glyn Thomas of UKSE said: "We are delighted to be providing support to Moss Technical Services to enable them to take advantage of this opportunity. We are confident that the link-up with Niko over the next three years will help the company expand and develop, and we wish them the best."
Established in 1998 by 41-year-old Andy Moss, Moss Technical Services carries out electrical automation and audio visual installation along with consultancy.
